Why do people avoid going to the dentist? Above all, it’s fear of pain. Perhaps you had a painful experience at a dentist, or you’ve heard stories, seen movies (we won’t mention their titles!), and comedy routines that exaggerate experiences in the dental chair.
Local anesthesia itself can be painful for some people, and they dread any procedure, such as drilling, filling cavities, even cleanings.
There’s no need for pain or anxiety when visiting the dentist. At our North Woodbridge and Schomberg dental offices, we understand how you feel. After all, dentists are patients too! We can help your anxiety and any potential pain during your treatment. The most pain you should ever have would be temporary soreness after a more involved procedure.
To help your anxiety, we use sedation dentistry, where you take a mild sedative before your procedure. We also supplement that with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) during your appointment.
When necessary, we use a deeper level of anesthesia with IV (intravenous) sedation administered by a specialist who has obtained his Mastership at the College of Sedation. IV sedation can be a good option if you’re having a long procedure, or have trouble sitting in one place for long period of time.
There’s no reason to suffer from anxiety before your dental appointment or to put off seeing the dentist because of fear. Just let us know and we can help you. You’ll wonder why you were ever afraid in the first place! Call one of our offices today. Once you’ve taken that first step, leave the rest to us!
